History
Founded in 1958 by Clifford Wolfswinkel, Southwest Properties Inc. has built a legacy as a pioneer in Arizona land development. From large-scale subdivisions to managing over 10,000 acres of farmland, the company established a reputation for vision, scale, and long-term value.
During the 1960s and 1970s, the company focused on recreational land development while strategically acquiring and positioning key assets along the Superstition Freeway and throughout the Southeast Valley’s primary growth corridors. During the 1980s, Wolfswinkel expanded into the Midwest, assembling a 25,000-acre farmland portfolio across Iowa, Minnesota, and North Dakota—an effort recognized by Fortune Magazine. By the mid-1990s, those assets were strategically sold, and the company reinvested its success back into Arizona.
For over 40 years, the second generation—Kathy Aleman, David Wolfswinkel, and Penny Wolfswinkel—alongside their experienced team, have expanded the company’s real estate portfolio across Colorado, New Mexico, and key Arizona markets. Their focus has been in the Southeast Valley, including Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, and the growing San Tan Valley.
Their experience spans office condominiums, shopping centers, residential masterplans, hotels, and industrial properties. In addition, they owned and operated distinctive assets such as Tonto Natural Bridge, later sold to the Arizona State Park system. As Arizona natives, their deep local expertise has laid a strong foundation for the successful transition to the third generation.
Today, that same entrepreneurial spirit drives the company forward. With second-generation leadership firmly in place, a third generation—Erin Kolb and Clifford Jenkins—is now leading the transformation of Southwest Properties Inc. into a modern, full-service commercial real estate brokerage based in Mesa, Arizona.
