Clifford Wolfswinkel: The Beginning
The story of Southwest Properties began in 1955 when Clifford Wolfswinkel bought his first parcel of land in the Arizona desert. A visionary with a deep respect for agriculture and development, Clifford founded Southwest Properties in 1958. His goal was simple yet profound: to make land ownership accessible and to build a commercial legacy that would serve the valley for generations.

The 3rd Generation Tradition
Following Clifford’s legacy, the second and third generations of the Wolfswinkel family have expanded Southwest Properties into a diversified powerhouse. Today, Penny, David, and Kathy lead a team that manages over 100,000 acres of land and commercial assets. While our tools have modernized, our principles remain unchanged: we operate with a hands-on approach, personal integrity, and a long-term view of asset stewardship.
Timeline of Excellence
1958
Southwest Properties is officially incorporated in Mesa, AZ.
1970s
Expansion into large-scale farming, managing over 10,000 acres of Arizona crops.
1985
Major commercial developments begin in the East Valley, including iconic retail centers.
1990
Launch of Hitching Post Land Company to manage expansive New Mexico holdings.
Today, third-generation management oversees a premier portfolio of commercial, land, and hospitality assets.
